Float Glass
Paper limited edition prints are supplied as standard with high-quality float glass (unless stated otherwise). This is the most widely used picture framing glass, offering excellent protection and a clear, natural presentation that is ideal for displaying artwork in the home.
Artscreen
Larger paper limited edition prints are glazed with high-quality Artscreen - a 2mm picture framing acrylic alternative to glass, which also offers excellent image clarity. This speciality glazing product is used for larger limited editions, to overcome safety and weight issues that may otherwise be encountered when using standard glazing options. This will be indicated in the product description.
Premium ARTglass
For the ultimate viewing experience, paper limited edition prints can be upgraded from standard float glass to premium ARTglass (simply select the 'Framed Print (ARTGlass)' option from the product format section where available).
ARTglass has been specially developed for fine art framing, dramatically reducing reflections while providing exceptional clarity and colour accuracy. Unlike traditional anti-reflective or etched glass, which can sometimes appear slightly cloudy or soften the image beneath, ARTglass uses an advanced optical coating that preserves the sharp detail, vibrancy and depth of the artwork.
In many lighting conditions, ARTglass reduces reflections so effectively that it can appear almost invisible, allowing the artwork itself to take centre stage.
Whether you're displaying your artwork in a bright, naturally lit room or under artificial lighting, upgrading to ARTglass helps you enjoy every detail of your limited edition print with exceptional clarity.
Canvas Editions
Our canvas prints are professionally finished with a protective varnish or other coating, so they do not require glazing. This allows you to enjoy the rich texture of the canvas without reflections.
Artist Proof Prints
Traditionally an artist's proof was a print made by the artist during the print-making process in order to understand the progress of the printing plate the artist was working on. In this respect it was a 'work in progress' print.
With the development of modern printing techniques the term is now used to refer to a number of finished prints that are available in addition to the main limited edition, and are reproduced to the same exact high quality. The number of artist proofs should not exceed 10% of the size of the main limited edition. For example, if the edition size is 195 prints, there are just 20 artist proofs available. The artist proofs may be exactly the same as the main limited edition or, as is the case with titles which offer the artist proof as a separate buying option, the artist proofs may be a different format - often large scale (dimensions and format will be detailed in the product description).
More information about artist proofs can be found on the C&D Fine Art website.
